The Low Vision Shop commissioned this exclusive piece of art to help create greater awareness for common misconceptions associated with low vision and blindness. The custom illustration depicts a crowded mass transit station platform scene with a variety of characters living with sight loss conditions. The characters with sight loss are all holding mobility canes, dressed in bright bold colors, while the sighted characters appear in gray/black apparel, with trains on both sides of the platform. Some of the sight loss characters are holding smartphones while performing routine tasks (email, surfing the web, phone calls, text messages, and more). Just because someone is holding a mobility cane and looking at a cell phone, it doesn’t mean their faking it. Blindness doesn't discriminate and comes in all different shades.
Now you can wear this soft and comfy unisex hoodie that fits all your hoodie needs while increasing awareness for the sight loss community. The fleece fabric makes it a great partner all year round, be it a summer evening on the beach, or a Christmas dinner in a mountain cabin.
